Want to hear an inspiring story about people overcoming poverty? This Friday night, November 12, the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op will be hosting a screening of a short film, 12 Stones, about the work of one international anti-poverty group, Heifer International, and the lives of women in villages in Nepal who are succeeding in overcoming poverty and achieving self-reliance.
The event is from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the Co-op Community Learning Center at 1914 Alhambra Blvd. In addition to the film, there will be a community supper of organic Nepalese cuisine, and more information about similar anti-poverty work going on around the world. The cost is $15, which includes the supper. Pre-registration is required. To register, please visit the Co-op website, or call the Co-op at (916) 455-2667, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Please note that, due to parking space limitations, participants are requested to please not park in the Co-op parking lot.)
