I owe all of you an apology for not posting anything in over a month. I could give you all kinds of excuses here, but I won’t. Let’s just say life (and work) gets in the way of what we need to do sometimes. Again, I’m sorry to leave everyone waiting so long for updates and new posts.
Having said that, here’s a new announcement of an interesting upcoming event:
Right across 19th Street from our neighborhood…the exciting and edgy gallery A Bitchin’ Space (at 2114 19th Street, between U and V Streets) presents an exhibition by Yolo County artist Mick Sheldon, “Cowpoke Soliloquy,” for four days only!
Let’s allow the gallery’s promotional e-mail do the talking for a bit:
“View a dozen or so fresh oil paintings on linen from his new portfolio of western still life arrangements of broken glass, potted cactus plants, shot up tin cans, and more laid out on a rumpled blanket of goo. Also take in the accompanying small sculptures from his “Tableaux de Horglots”, a thirty-five year passion.
“What is a Horglot you ask? Well we don’t really know but Mick will surly explain at his lecture Sunday April 11th from 12:30 to 1pm.
“For the past 2 years Mick has been held up in his Yolo studio tirelessly creating his collection of “Cowpoke” oil paintings, only stepping out on 2nd Saturdays to keep his record of never missing an art walk (well one) since it started way back when.
“Yes he is a regular and proud of it! And we at a Bitchin Space are just as proud to show his Horglots and such cause Mick is one accomplished artist!
“After Mick’s show A Bitchin space goes dormant for a while so be sure to come by say hi and see another skate session on the Gnarly Nook!”
Here are the…
Thursday, April 8th from 6 to 8pm
Friday, April 9th from 2 to 5pm
Second Saturday, April 10th from 12 to 10pm
(Reception & skate session: 6 to 10pm)
Sunday, April 11th from 12 to 4pm (Artist Talk 12:30 to 1pm)
That’s a pretty short exhibition, so if this sounds like your cup of tea, don’t miss it!
