Co-ops in Our Community: A Panel Discussion

In the wake of the recent financial crisis, have you ever wondered whether there could be a way for groups to do business that didn’t involve their becoming big, impersonal companies, grasping for their customers’ every last dime?  Or a way of doing business that would have more personal involvement and investment from its customers and employees, and would keep money in the community, rather than sending it away to far-off shareholders and corporate headquarters?

One alternative business model is the cooperative, or co-op.  At an upcoming presentation at the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op on Tuesday, March 2, from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., you can learn more about the different types of co-ops that are out there–not just grocery stores, but credit unions, farming co-ops, and other types of businesses.  Learn how cooperatives benefit local communities and support the economy.  A lively and informative panel discussion is planned, with audience participation.

This presentation is free, and will be held at the Co-op Community Learning Center at 1914 Alhambra Blvd. (right around the corner from the Natural Foods Co-op).  To register, please visit, or call (916) 455-2667.
