Sacramento Museum Day Coming Up This Saturday

Sutter's Fort State Historic Park, on L Street between 26th and 28th Streets - one of many museums and historic sites open for free this Saturday.

Looking for a way to experience culture, history, science and learning — and do it for free?  The Sacramento Association of Museums has just the thing for you:  Sacramento Museum Day 2010, this Saturday, February 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  You can visit as many as 26 museums in the Sacramento area for free, all day long.

California Foundry History Museum

California State Military Museum

California State Capitol Museum

The California Museum

California State Indian Museum

California State Railroad Museum

Crocker Art Museum

Discovery Museum Science and Space Center

Explorit Science Center (Davis)

Folsom History Museum

Governor’s Mansion State Historic Park

Heidrick Ag History Center (Woodland)

Leland Stanford Mansion State Historic Park

Museum of Medical History

Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum

Also:  If you take Regional Transit to Archives Plaza light rail station during Museum Day, you can transfer to a free event shuttle bus provided by the Sacramento Association of Museums.  (Please note that the shuttle bus does not go to the Aerospace Museum, the Discovery Museum Science and Space Center, or to the Crocker Art Museum.   Also please note that the Crocker Art Museum is undergoing construction for its upcoming expansion, and therefore parking and gallery access will be limited.)

Whether you’re interested in science, history, automobiles, animals, trains, or art–or if you just want to get out of the house and do something fun this Saturday–Sacramento Museum Day 2010 should have something for you.
